First vacation sober in 6 years. I met my family in long beach island yesterday. I was hesitant to go on this vacation because I've have been an emotional wreck the past few days for many reasons. The longest I've gone without drinking is a month. That was a few weeks ago. I'm only on day 6 now. Me and my family went to a karaoke bar. I got a water with lime 2 other people in the group weren't drinking so that made it easier. The 2 people who weren't drinking left after a few hours. I stayed with the rest who were drinking. I ordered another water with lime. I get nervous socially without alcohol. I told myself there was nothing to be nervous about. I ordered another water with lime. I have never been in this type of setting and not drank before. Yet I was able to yesterday. I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and I know that will be a challenge. But after last night it seems more possible. I'm feeling proud of myself. Just wanted to share

That is awesome! I know that was tough, but you did it. You must feel so proud and great today. What is it about water with lime I wonder? It really seems to be a very good and satisfying alternative to alcohol for a lot of us. For example, water with lemon doesn't seem to have the same effect. It is the lime that really provides a very nice substitute. Hmmmm...........

Keep that in mind when you go to the wedding! I think I am going to start carrying a lime with me everywhere I go

Thanks for the responses! I don't know what it is about with water and lime but it certainly made me not want to drink.
