Even if your a self made man? I built my company from the ground up 10 years ago. Every time I keep getting over the drinking hump I find a reason to point to drink. I hate to say it but walking away means people don't have a job anymore. I'm a good boss. So I think so. When is my sobriety worth more than the livelihood have many? I always see people with nothing much to give but always ready to give more. To see their smile makes me want it. I'm half trashed for tonight. I'm sorry. I never knew my dream for my passion would grow and cause me to defend my drinking. Do I walk away from everything I've done for a life of not drinking? I need the balls to jump that fence.

Is there some aspect of your job that requires you to drink while doing it?

I thought I wanted to change careers when I first sobered up because I thought I hated my old career. Turns out, after some reflection and sobriety time, I realized I would have hated any job which interfered with my drinking time, which meant I would have hated any job I had while I was still drinking. Now I've decided to give my career another go (in sobriety). Just a thought, try some sober time and then re-evaluate how you feel about your career. Maybe you can take some time off?

Bob, can I say gently that if you keep drinking, it will get worse and your business will either go to the dogs, or be lost anyway.

I wasted 3 years telling myself my job was so stressful, I needed to drink. All the great money I was making, I was pissing away on alcohol, or buying stuff I didn't need on ebay, or eating garbage...and just generally making bad, stupid reckless choices.

How can that be successful?

I agree with Crois, Bob. If you keep drinking it's all going to be lost anyway.

I'm not sure what you've tried in the past but there's all manner of support out there to help keep you sober.

Bob I guess I'm a self-made woman as we built up our small business from the ground up. We are good bosses, generous and understanding but also hold the bar high when it comes to standards and work ethic. If our business threatened my sobriety for any reason I would ditch it tomorrow even though I and others would be out of work.
