Day 22

Can NOT believe I made it to 22 days...

When I first came on here, when I saw people in double-digits - even 10, I was like how?

I had all sorts of "systems". Only drink on the weekend, or only after a certain evening time which always moved back and then I would make up for the times I didn't drink by over-drinking.

I just make different choices - that said, I can't have alcohol in the house.

wow - just realized this is the 4th weekend sober - it can be done

when I sent my 2 older kids to camp - I promised them I would not drink the entire 15 days they were gone - then they left and I was like, how are you going to do that?

I don't think about booze much now except I hate HATE walking passed it in stores! :(

I feel like the liquor bottles come alive and say "drink me! drink me!"

but I'm not falling down that rabbit hole again...

Congrats on 22 days. The more sober time you have, the more you realize that alcohol is BS, lies sold in advertisements and societal notions of a "cool image." In reality, it's a poison of the mind and body that makes people behave terribly and immorally. The romanticized notion of drinking is a myth, the realities are ugly.

I don't keep it in the house either though, that's a wise move.

Congratulations Sober July. I know how you feel. If I can make it to 38 days-well I guess I will be amazed. I know that doesn't sound very committed and confident but that just seems so far away. I think I am at 27 or 28 so 38 isn't that far away. But my husband comes home next week after being out of town for over a month and he will want to wine and dine. Then my son and family come to visit. I am really stressing over it.

Congrats on 22 days! I agree about the grocery store - I am trying to avoid shopping just so I don't have to go down that aisle. Same at the gas station - pay at the pump so I am not tempted by the cold case...
