Happiness is going to the Post Office Box and finding delightful treasures from your SR friends across the world!

I indicated a love for Ruby's dashboard hula girl a few weekends back, and look what arrived in the box this week!
She now sits on my dash where I can't help but smile every time I drive my car!
Thank you, Ruby!!!

And the most spectacular postcard was there as well from our fearless leader, Weasel!
It is very difficult to capture the fabulousness of the hologram card, but I tried. I think I can only add one photo per post, so.....

This weekend starts our vacation at the beach with our long time friends and party buddies. I am planning on making some fake wine coolers so no one will be the wiser. I'm actually looking forward to a different kind of vacation than past years. We have been doing this same beach week for the past 18 years which has evolved into a fog of drinking and laying around in lounge chairs....I just don't want to waste my vacation feeling crappy half the day from a hang over. I'm feeling confident right now. Hope I can stay strong...wish me luck!! I'll be sure to check in.

Zen life, If you are looking for fake wine coolers maybe try a fancy iced tea? I found two flavors of Argo Tea which I like, mojito flavored and ginger honey. Unfortunately they are a chicago based company and not available nationwide except mail order. However, I am sure that there might be some other local tea brand which has fancy flavors.

Olive, hula girl looks good on the dash! And I like the hologram postcard. Now I see why you were in a quandary about the best way to photograph it.

Time to get the kids thinking about bedtime. I must work tomorrow. Mentally I know what I'm going to wear. I just hope it still fits. Talk to you later.

Hey Zen ,
I'd come out as not drinking, in my experience it'd make things easier to stay sober , even if the friends feel put out .. say i'm on antibiotics or something ..

TBH when i was new into sobriety , i didn't even look down the alcohol aisle for 3 months , let alone hang round with boozy mates .

In the old days when i put things on a higher importance than sobriety the disease / voice, call it what you will took advantage .

For me alcohol was a life or death decision , I chose to do and put up with anything to stay sober .

Hey everyone ,
Friday morning , a verbal job offer i had earlier in the week got snatched away when my current employers found out and started threatening the new employer with "poaching" .
Grrr …
Kinda leaves me with egg on my face and has redoubled my efforts and resolve to get out of there and onto the next rung of my career.

I'm in for a sober friday , m

Too bad Mec, but at least you know you are valuable! That's a start to moving up the rungs.

Time for me to turn in. We are changing shifts. UK signs on as America clocks out. Happy Friday everyone!

These days the whole of the weekend is mine, it's a good way to "get through"
Ugggh, thanks for reminding me. I seriously forget how bad things were. Nothing....nothing, could be booked before 11am. And please, can I be home by 4pm at the latest so I can crack the wine, I'm missing out on serious drinking time socialising outside of my house!

Yuck. Then the promises to myself not to drink on Sunday because I had work the next day.

It's Friday afternoon here...just remembering makes me sad that was all I was looking forward to each weekend. In 7 hours from now, I'd be trashed, blacking out....or worse, scraping around for another bottle, ringing a taxi to take me to the bottl-o.

I'm so glad I'm safe tonight.

Hi Everyone

You are all so interesting I wish we could all go out for coffee or juice or something and talk about it all some more.

First, Nonsensical. I cannot believe that the fox tested positive for rabies!

Trach, I actually thought of you when I passed up the Ben and Jerry's freezer today at the market. I think the reign of sugar and cream has officially run its course in my freezer. Yes! Can you believe it. A few weeks ago the episode of the new brain-drain show 'Botched' featured a woman who had lost weight on an ice-cream diet. ???. Sounds like that is what you are up to, huh?

Ruby, do you remember the days of 'the feather' hairstyle. I wanted to have hair like that when I grew up. Hah! Funny how things change. Parachute pants?

Olive, the hula girl! What a great surprise to receive in the mail! You will have to bring her photo out occasionally for encore. Ruby, great present. Thanks Olive for the postcard presentation.

Oh Zenlife, yeah [inhale]. Hanging out around bingeing is fought for so many reasons, not the least of them being that it gets terribly boring, fast. It sounds as if you are deadset on the trip so make sure you have a can or bottle of water in your hands at all times. Stay super hydrated. Avoiding that parched feeling helped with cravings quite a bit. Best of luck to you and have a fabulous time. Great that you are here this weekend!

Mecanix, that just sucks. People poach talent all the time here in the U.S. I wonder if it is a different ethos in the UK.

Tomorrow is a pool day with family that are visiting. Should be quite fun. The weather is divine, almost magical like something special is in the air.

Ok time to read some books. Night everyone! Happy sober Whee!kend. Great to see new Whee!kenders. Please keep writing. It really helps get through all the events of the real life weekend, for sure.

**Croissant, just read your post. Glad that you are safe tonight as well.

Whoo whooo to another sober weekend! Now that I work on the weekends, less likely to get into trouble. What is fun is the drunk calls I sometimes get Friday and Saturday night. We all know how hard it is to argue with someone that is drunk. Makes me so glad I don't drink anymore.

Happy Friday Admiral Von Sobritz!

Slept pretty good. My wife's friend from her tween years is here, and they wasted little time going straight into cigarette and wine mode. They each had 4 glasses of wine, which I think was a pretty wild night for those two 50-year-olds. I seriously think they need a demonstration on how to do some real drinking, but that's probably just my AV.

I have to work today - the horror!

Both my job and my attitude seem to be picking up lately. There are many things to like about my job, but excitement is not one of them. I am largely ambivalent about the results of my work (preventing smuggling into the US), but it matters to some people, so I plod away.

The Health Dept posted print and social media ads, and made telephone alerts about the rabid fox in our neighborhood. The neighbors have been talking and word is getting around that my dog killed it. Gretta is becoming a local celebrity.

Like the old TV ad said, Time to make the donuts!

Great job Olive at taking those pictures.... You nailed it.

Hey non.... Good to hear you feeling up lately.

M always great to see you!

SDad... Glad you got something from my frustrated words... Lol. My AV needs a little fear put in him now and then or he gets to thinking he has some influence in all this.

Day 2 of my first real diet attempt. All other attempts have been reducing my meatball and cheese sandwiches by one a week to see what happens. Nothing happens.

Serious efforts on food.... Walking has turned into a mix of run a little walk a little.

An early morning ride across to Peaks island for a good few mile walk around the perimeter would be amazing tomorrow morning. The scenery just gets me every time.

Lots of fun things to do at work today! I am off to do them!

Ken

Speaking of parachute pants, I remember in the early 90s, the guys on In Living Color did a skit with somebody impersonating MC Hammer. As he was dancing, he got tangled up in his pants and fell off the stage!

Mecanix, I'm sorry your near-deal got snatched from the jaws of victory! Hopefully your next prospect will be an even better fit--and maybe even with more money!
