Having another go - Day Two
Having another go - Day Two
I want to thank everybody for the replies of support yesterday. Truly.
Its day two, and i definitely feel different, a little shaky, but no more shaky than when i was drinking close to 30 beers a day lol. I found myself gettin pretty irritated at little things, but was able to get by. The strangest part for me is not having a beer in my hand wherever I went, cuz that was my routine. Everytime I went to do something, Im like where my f&*9in beer, then I went "oh right", and just carried on. All in all not a bad day, all things considered. I stayed very busy today so as not to think about beer too much. I do have something from my doctor to help, and it is worth its weight in gold. I take them only when im feeling really tight, like Im about to kick the dog (thats an expression, I would never kick my dog LOL) I only took one today, then one later to sleep. I will say it is a benzo, and some may not agree with that, but they help me immensely. Otherwise I would be like this little guy all day
Best of love to you all, i did not feed the demon today , its my plan to starve the bastard out lol

Great job OldSkool;
Keeping busy is the best thing in the beginning.
That and plenty of sleep / good food & plenty of water.
Ice cream is my emergency measure for cravings.
I also ate a lot of dried fruit, especially figs, for trace minerals
and to get the sugar in my system I used to get from metabolized alcohol.
I tapered down on the dried fruit as I got used to doing without the booze.
What hobbies did you have or would like to try?
You will find you have quite a bit of time that used to be taken up by drinking.
What sounds interesting to do?

Great job Oldskool! Those days are going to add up quickly. Just keep on the same track. Do you have a plan? I made a journal of why I quit drinking and look at it when I need a reminder. It's got TONS of reasons to stay away from the alcohol. It took up some of my free time for my first few days while I was adjusting.
I took up guitar again after 30 years away when I stopped.
Waterfall's suggestion about keeping a journal is also very helpful.
I'm filling my second one up now--it's interesting to look back and see how far I've come.
I think I play guitar better sober too.
Problem is it gave me GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome)
The new Squires and Epiphones are so much nicer than they were 30 years ago and so cheap.
Some folks buy clothes or cars, I like guitars. . .
Good luck on Day 3 and keep posting--
If you feel any cravings, post before acting on them for support

Hang in there OldSkool.
The first three days are the roughest, well in my opinion.
Shakiness, anxiety, irritability, sleep sweats, etc.
After that I find things smooth out.
No hangover and quality sleep really help.
It gets better.
Long-term commitment is the challenge.
