Hello Day #2
Hi everyone, this is my first time reaching out for help on SR, even though I have read posts on here before.
I have decided once and for all to stop drinking and evolve as a person and live the rest of my life sober. I've had this problem of alcoholism for the past 6 years now and enough is enough. I hope I can find support here and I hope to share and grow with you all.
I'm terrified at the amount of work I know is ahead of me, how hard its going to be at times, but I think i am worth it and I just need some encouragement to know its worth it.
Thanks guys!

Hi. Yes staying sober is not like shutting the water off, it does require work and the joys derived along the way can bring great feelings. There is a slogan “EASY DOES IT” that can help to slow us down mentally if we use it. This can be an adventure with the discoveries we make and are open to change.
I’ve been sober thankfully for a lot of years and I’m still learning from the meetings I go to and read here. I call them pearls which are so useful.
BE WELL
Hey, PLEASESTAYGOLD, welcome to SR.
I've tried to quit drinking for good in the past and failed. I'm still in early days at the moment on this attempt but something feels different for me.....I've finally realised that what we think alcohol offers us is only an illusion. It only brings bad stuff and it's wonderful to be free of all that. I'm finding that a great way to think about it. Also, lots of the folks on here with long term sobriety talk about how, if you just give long term sobriety a chance, it really delivers rewards. I'm keeping that in mind this time, too.
