Well houses where we live are finally moving after about 5 years of a stagnant market. Not sure I can ever be mentally prepared to leave this house. We put it up for 90 days. If it doesn't sell, take it off, back up in spring.

I have moved many times in my life. Once I was even forced out due to construction and eminent domain. Even prior to that though, I always tried to remember that a house is merely wood, metal and stone. The people who live there are what is important. And moving merely shifts the people from one place to another, it does not change them.

I know Scott. I know an emotional attachment to a structure is ridiculous.

Raider - I learned to love the weekend open house with my last house selling experience (No pack of furry animals for me. Just a pack of fur-less kids and one beast). You can pack yourself, husband and the animals up for an entire day and have tons of traffic go through an empty house. I hate moving.

Well done staying away from the booze.

I like your photo Raider - it's nice to see what it's like where other people live. I sometimes think of starting a thread about our hometowns and houses.

SoberJuly, I know how you feel about the Cosco thing. About a week before I quit drinking I bought a case of the big bottles of chardonnay, and another big bottle of chardonnay, (because they were cheaper there and I knew I would drink them anyway), a bottle of gin to give a neighbor as a thank you and couple of bottles of red wine. Also have in the house a bottle of vodka and a bottle of tequila. The thing is that I had an embarrassing "defining moment" and I haven't been tempted to get into my stash at all. Sorry, I kind of got off topic...

Ok that went very well I have a plan, I have dates. I have exactly what I need to do. The first thing I do is schedule carpet cleaning. HOLY CRAP MENFOLK!! The date I scheduled is totally unacceptable to H. Ack!! Really.

Here came "poof hot urge)!! Again!!!

I kicked it around. Why do you want to drink?
Oh same reason as last time you got "poof hot urge".
How is that going to work out for you?
Not well
Is it going to change the carpet date?
No, but I won't care.
Um well, there is that, but what about when you sober up? Then what?
I'll call and change the date
Why not change it now?
Because I'm pissed at H
Ummmmmm......
So you would sacrifice your mental clarity when you need it most because you're pissed?

No I won't sacrifice my sobriety.

(I changed the carpet date because Hell knows we wouldn't want it done on a Thursday. Mondays are much better for cleaning carpet. I mean really, who thinks this way??? SMF.....)

You are doing amazingly well.

Those hot urges can be tough.

It will get done--do some big decluttering / packing this weekend to get ready
if you are antsy

Hug to the Fuzz please. . .
