1 week strong
I made it 7 days! I began thinking about drinking last night but beat myself at my own game. Changing one's thought process is a difficult task but definitely possible. Getting through the weekend will be a challenge for me but I have my heart and mind in the right place. I take comfort in knowing I have SR to lean on. Thank you all. Have a sober weekend everyone!

Hi. When I started to sober up the thinking about drinking was almost overwhelming. It was suggested that during these moments, which usually pass within a few minutes, to put non drinking thoughts into my thinking process.
It was suggested that at times we associate being thirsty with drinking so drink something non alcoholic and perhaps eat some sugar items to supply the sugar the body is missing that the alcohol supplied. I loved that one, a pint of ice cream as a reward for doing something I should have done years previous.

Good for you for toughing it through....this is how it works! We have to stay strong and be willing to do whatever we need to do to not drink when those thoughts come up.....it gets easier over time. You are doing great...congrats on your sober time!
