It's been four years since my last update. Recently I had to write about a life-defining moment for a class I am taking and I wrote about finding SR and writing this first post in July of 2014. I was in my mid-twenties then, and I'm in my early 30's now. So much has changed since then, in countless ways, but I have remained sober throughout.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, to every person who has read and/or replied to these posts. The guidance, support, and encouragement I received here changed the course of my life and me to avoid years, possibly even decades, of suffering.

If you're reading this and feeling unsure like I was, I urge you to give sobriety a try. You may discover some difficult truths, but the journey is profoundly worth it.

Big congrats and hugs to you! Yes, living sober is the best way to live. My life isn't easier sober, but it sure is simpler.

Thank you, least! I'm not a big poster but I still read threads here and always appreciate your kind and positive outlook.

Hi Double,
I wasn't around when you made you last post 4 years ago, so I wasn't one of those who was here to offer help or advice, but I enjoyed reading your first post in this thread. We don't usually label others alcoholics, but I did relate to you wondering about where you were with alcohol, which is something I wondered about myself for years. It's one of the first things we do before we end up in serious recovery.

It looks like those first thoughts led you someplace positive. It would have been fun if you had hung around during your transformation, just to watch your progress and share in it. It's also helpful for newbies to share their experiences with other newbies, because sharing your learning in real time seems like it would be helpful to both you and others.

That aside, you seem like you've got it. I won't respond to those original questions, because I think you already discovered the answers yourself. It's good to have you here.
