Newbie

My first time on here. I woke up this morning and made a decision to go to AA. I found this site and hope it will provide at least a small support base. I need to make positive changes in my life for my wie, kids and grand kids.

Welcome Swatty! Having support is crucial in quitting. I attend AA and come here. It helps get me through the rough patches.

Hi. If you get and stay sober for ourselves first many of our goals and reasons will fall into place if we let them.

BE WELL

Swatty - Congratulations on taking ACTION! Anyone who has desire and willingness will find reprieve from the lash of alcohol IF they take that window of opportunity that drives them to ask for help.

Don't be too hard on yourself, but take responsibility for your sobriety! You CAN do this thing!!

Peace.....

Welcome to the form Friend, this is a great place. Making a positive change in your life is a wonderful decision. Alcohol is hard to beat alone and in AA you realize that you’re not alone. Hang in there and keep us posted on how your meeting and progress goes.

I went to my first meeting last night. I was/am SO scared of going, like, attending a meeting makes it real & from here on out I must openly acknowledged that yes, I am an alcoholic. Even writing that just gave me a surge of anxiety & guilt. But going to a meeting didn't make it real - driving my gorgeous, perfect children around drunk & barely remembering it makes it real. I knew that if I don't get surrounded by people who I can be honest with, and who want to help me, something bad WILL happen. And I would never forgive myself. I'm done being sick & embarrassed all the time. I have hidden it well for years & it SUCKS! Let's be free! You can do it, just go!
