Ashamed and scared
Hello and welcome.
No one knows what the future holds. But if I had kept on the same path I was on while drinking, the outcome would have been pretty predictable. Same with a lot of us.
I didn't lose a friend, I lost my worst enemy and found my true self.
Congratulations on admitting you may have a problem, that's a big step. So is going to an AA meeting. You have nothing to fear by going, so don't be intimidated. There will be folks there just like you, all for a common cause. There is strength in that.
Best to you.

It is overwhelming at times - try and stay in the day - focus on what you need to achieve today

Thank you to everyone who commented....the support here is great! Going to another meeting tonight...hopefully it will be smaller....last night's meeting was packed and overwhelming. Several women came up to me after the meeting and gave me their phone numbers...soooo much support!!!
It is rough early on, but things will not stay this way! The anxiety will ease up and you'll begin to relax and feel thankful you're getting free of it. Be proud of yourself for taking these steps and reclaiming your life.
