I hope you can fix at least some of those trigger points bookmaven

At least now in recovery a bad day is just a bad day - not a bad week

It's good to keep an eye on those things. It helps to keep you balanced.

The lonely one gets to me sometimes. Majority of my social contacts and social life was built on partying, so cutting some if them out means less opportunity to see friends who aren't able to support my sobriety.

Remember, the sugestion in recovery is NOT: don't get hungry, angry, lonely, or tired; the suggestion IS: don't get TOO hungry, TOO angry, TOO lonely, or TOO tired.

This is how it was presented to me:

"It is difficult to identify your feelings in early recovery, but there are ways to make identification easier. A useful recovery tool is HALT: a cue to ask yourself whether you are hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. Any one of these feelings can lead you to incorrect, inappropriate, or just plain stinking thinking. If you experience more than one of the HALT feelings at the same time, you could be headed for real trouble. Pay attention to these four feelings, and if you feel them, make sure you eat, rest, and call your sponsor or a recovery friend."

That's from Hazelden's Field Guide.

"... We also heard about 'HALT' which stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired. It was suggested that we NOT get TOO much of any of these (ie: TOO hungry, TOO angry, TOO lonely, or TOO tired)..."

Suggestions for Leading Beginners Meetings:
The halt reminder: never getting TOO Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.

Correctional Facilities - A.A. Group Handbook:
The halt reminder-never getting TOO Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.
