Day 8 & Feeling Great (sort of)
Day 8 & Feeling Great (sort of)
Well, here I am on day 8 and really can't believe I've been able to do it. I must say, stopping in the summer time is sure hard - so many past summers with so much alcohol involved in every activity - patio gatherings, fire pit parties, boating, cottage benders, BBQ's, golfing etc. Not to mention I'm finding even listening to classic rock is a no no as the songs always remind me of my old party times. Think I'll stick to modern jazz for now :-)
Anyway, today is our 29th anniversary. I'm bittersweet about it because my husband continues to drink heavily. Not sure where the next 29 will take us (or not) but at least he remembered this morning to wish me a happy anniversary. They'll be no champagne toasts this time.
Thanks to all for their support on this forum thus far,

anchorhold,
I quit drinking about 3 months before my husband did. He was a one-gallon-man -- one gallon of Carlo Rossi rhine each and every day, and when that ran out he would get more.
His drinking scared me, and we "quit" together so many times, I finally gave up on his EVER quitting.
So I quit, by myself. That was over 23 years ago.
SHOW him it can be done, which is what you are doing. If you hope to have him around another 29 years, this is the way. Only he can make himself quit, though. That much I know.
Good luck, and good on ya for the great job on 8 days!
