I suggest posting at least once a day in the 24 hour recovery connections thread in Daily Support forum. Make a commitment each day to not drink for 24 hours.

Welcome edmndgrl. You don't have to feel like this anymore. This is a great little community to help you in this new journey. Make a plan. Read books (I got a lot from Drinking: A Story to mention one). Maybe check out a local recovery group...
It can be done. Be open to whatever it takes. Pull up a chair and stay a great while.

Hello and welcome.
Getting sober like other have said starts with day1.
I understand about the financial issues caused by Alcohol. I am still clearing up 30k that I accumulated over the years. It will take time and facing this sober gives me a fighting chance. Try not to make drastic decisions in early recovery like bankruptcy for example. Your objectivity is blurred.
Good luck!

Welcome! I too was a blackout drinker and can't begin to tell you the horrific stories! It can get better. I tried a thousand or more times to quit on my own and never could! For me it took the program of AA, I would suggest you put some action to your desire to quit and find a meeting. It's saved my life and I can't suggest it to others enough! Pulling for you!
