Things I can do without a hangover

I am on day 8 of not drinking and I have just had one of the best weekends in so so long. My sons football team were having a sponsored walk on Sunday and many months ag I had agreed to do the walk with him. On Sunday I was up at 6.00am and walked 13 miles through the beautiful countryside. I even volunteered to lead one of the groups of boys from the start to the finish line.

If I were still drinking I could never have done that walk, I am so proud of myself, even more so that there were celebrations at the club house afterwards and drinks were being bought for the helpers and I didn't even have to think about it, I just requested a soda and lime.

I laughed so much on Sunday and realised people like me for being me, I don't need alcohol to make me feel better.

The best part of the weekend was getting the biggest hug from my 12 year old son just before bed last night and thanking me for a great weekend.

Being sober is the best :-)

I got up at 6:30 on Saturday to go get a used boat.

We had the boat out on the lake by Saturday afternoon, and the whole family had an absolute blast.

I used to think that doing some small accomplishment was something to celebrate by having a drink.

Now I have lots of accomplishments, and I celebrate by resting a bit then moving on to the next.

Great going!
Just remember what those hangovers were like and realize you never have to feel that way again.

Way to go! I used to get wicked hangovers, it is so nice not to deal with them! I really enjoy getting up early and taking on the day with chores and then lots of family time.

I'm on day 5. This no hangover thing is pretty good. Nice to wake up feeling proud and ticking off another sober day. Good for you and for your family. I have 2 kids too. Great to be connecting more with them!

That's fantastic!
Day 7. Sleeping and eating well, not missing those
ghastly hangovers and evil withdrawals.
It's nice to actually function and get things done.
May we never have to endure another day 1.
