Breath!!

Slow it all down lawgirl, the most important thing to focus on is being Sober, nothing else, everything else will sort itself out in time, Sobriety is your main priority moving forward!!

You can do this, your mind doesn't need to be going at a million miles an hour, one day at a time, that's all it needs to focus on!!

We've been curing everything with ice cream this weekend. Got any?

Just like a 24 hour flu, the anxiety will pass.

How long does it usually take to go away?

I feel like it lasts longer each relapse

Bubble bath. Gatorade. Some guided meditation on YouTube.

It will pass, you know it will. But yes I think it gets a bit worse each relapse. I think there's a term for that - kindling.

You can do this. Big hugs.

Well, you keep drinking more between relapses don't you?

We all go through it differently. If you're getting your anxiety now, it could be gone tomorrow or the next day.

Got any chamomile or Sleepy Time tea in the house? That would help. Warm milk might help. As soon as you can relax and sleep, crash.

I think it does last longer and each relapse is harder to recover from.

But, the anxiety will go away. You just have to hang in there and get through it.

"Kindling" is a real thing, there is probably a thread around here somewhere on it but I can't find it, here's the basic wiki info:

Kindling (sedative-hypnotic withdrawal) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Had the same problem today, Day 2 for me.

I was in the pool with my daughter when it hit. I felt like, I can't do this. Went into the house and juiced veggies and drank the juice. Now the anxiety has eased.

No and I drank a bunch of diet coke not thinking about the caffeine

Kindling is definitely a real thing for me. Withdrawals got worse and worse. Trachemys right sleepytime will help the anxiety. My wife would make me a lavender bath. That also helped. Just hang in there youve come this far. Keep going.

Hi lawgirl, I am new here and just starting recovery but I am going through the exact thing tonight. I have an anxiety disorder and the drinking makes it so much worse. Definitely hydrate. Eat a banana if you can. If you have a favorite movie, watch it if it's one that isn't violent or gory. Something funny. Usually that helps me. Also, if you start to panic, doing jumping jacks can help regulate your breathing, so I've been told. Anxiety is different for everyone but my guess is that you'll probably feel better tomorrow and then even better the next. I hope you feel better soon!

Just hang in there, and the next time you want to drink remember this feeling...it's a great deterrent. I also found it helped when I wrote down the feelings I had this last time to remind me why I can't drink. You can do it, and it will get better faster than you think. I know it seems like time is so slow right now, but it does get better!

Bedtime tea with valerian root, or valerian itself, can be an herbal calming supplement. Agree with the banana.
