It's not uncommon - I think we underestimate the impact on our body from drinking and withdrawal. Our immune system can take a while to settle down

I'm on day 15 Jezza and also been feeling like that. I had put it down to hay fever (which I've not had in years), but you've made me wonder now. Good part is, it's getting better with each day

I had body aches and a wretched headache right about two weeks sober. I see that happen a lot in these threads and messages. I think it's your body getting rid of stinking drinking!

It's hit me for the last two weeks. I thought I was really sick until haennie chimed in that she had gotten it, too. Doesn't mean you don't have a real cold/flu but wait it out. If you have to have cold medicine make sure and get alcohol-free meds.

I felt sick my first week. It passed, and I don't think I really was sick. No one caught it. lol

Hi Jezza, when I stopped I had the worst cold/flu directly after (for 3 weeks!). I think either it's powerful withdrawal or your body is more susceptible to picking up a virus. At least I think that is how it worked for me. It was a really bad cold. However I haven't had a cold since though. I really think it's just a reaction to your body cleaning itself out. Cleanses also have the same effect-lots of people have cold/flu like reactions.

Thanks all.... it is a weird feeling cold, feel a bit detached from myself along with the sniffs.. Oh well, would rather feel like this than going through severe withdrawal... Sure it will pass..
