One month today
I hit the one month mark today! I hadn't even thought about it until just a few minutes ago and decided to come here and post. A month ago, I was an emotional mess mostly. I had just spent about a week trying to taper my drinking and continuously failing at it. I wasn't sleeping well, was worried about my health, scared I was about to have a heart attack or a stroke. It was ugly...
I know our brains aren't equipped to remember exactly how that sort of thing feels, but I want to always remember that it was miserable and I never want to go back to that hell again. Every time I start drinking again, I immediately feel remorse and want to get back to being sober and healthy. The most important thing for me to remember is to never open that door again. Not even a crack. You can't let a lion out of its cage a little at a time.
