Remember that old dream you used to have right before a birthday party that nobody came and how it was never true?

Well tonight I decided to invite friends to a coffee shop for coffee & dinner, a nice birthday get-together that doesn't involve alcohol, and I sat there for an hour waiting for somebody to come and nobody showed. When nobody RSVPed and everybody ignored it, I thought they were just being rude, but no, nobody actually wanted to come to my little thing, not even for a few minutes, and I saw them all on Twitter and Facebook doing random other stuff.

I feel like I'm twelve again and in middle school but this time I really want a drink. I guess I didn't understand how much of a reprehensible human being I was until now, because apparently drinking made me severely disliked... who knew?

Anyway. Now that I am here and telling you all of this I am promising you all that I will NOT drink. I just had to vent. 20 days of sobriety and I want to make it to 19283747656 this time.

I FEEL STUPID.

Hang on the your 20 days and start a coffee thread, I'm in ;-)

we both know that you are not a bad person or you would not have tried to invite them for a sober get together. Your gesture was well intended and kind.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Did you give them at least a day's notice? Most adult people have at least some loose plan of the evening ahead by midday, so it can be hard to get people to change the flight plan.

Anybody invites me to a "# days sober party" man I am there- be it 1, 5 or 500. I'll bring the paper hats!

If none of them are "in the business" maybe the issue is scary to them.
