Insomnia is a nightmare for me, but the warm weather does not help at all.

It's really normal in early sobriety as your brain recalibrates and gets used to sleep without alcohol. It is hard but maybe try and avoid pills as you don't want to risk replacing one addiction with another. You will sleep eventually and it really is refreshing, rejuvenating sleep. Or maybe look at natural sleep aids-milk, exercise, herbal stuff

Latest thing I read about is that computer, pad, and phone screens put out a light that can cause insomnia. So turn 'em all off an hour before you want to sleep.

I read the entire Game of Thrones (all of books and thousands of pages) while detoxing because I couldn't sleep.

I also found writing in a journal very helpful for filling up late nights and putting me in touch with some of the things I was feeling / thinking at the time.
Rereading it later was helpful as my emotions, so long pushed down by alcohol, began to surface.

I still write in my journal several times a week so it has been a good habit for me.

Don't worry, the insomnia will pass and you will have wonderful sleep again

It took me about a month or so to start sleeping well. It takes time for your brain to rewire itself but it will come.

do you have a bathtub? get some of the stress relaxation lavender stuff from bed bath and beyond, soak in really hot water for an hour, and drink chamomile tea. this puts me out like a light.

Melatonin has really helped me these past couple of days. I also bought some valerian root but havent used it. The night terrors are horrible for me. Good luck push on.

I'm having the same issue and have been taking melatonin. Seems to work for me and I don't want to take anything stronger.
