Drinking buddy...

I found out this week that an old drinking buddy of mine committed suicide. He had been down on his luck for the last few months, all his problems seemed to have revolved around alcohol. I really have realized this week since hearing the news that alcohol is a ruthless bastard.
I felt like drinking this week to sit and reminisce about our friendship, but that would be giving in to this evil substance that had a big part of removing my friend from this earth. Instead I will think of him and remember him with a sober mind. Hope everyone is having a safe and sober weekend!

So sad about your friend but what a wonderful way to honor and remember your own sobriety.

So sorry about your loss! I lost a very dear friend to alcoholism last September. It's still hard. My husbands Aunt died of alcoholism & her 20 year old son died of a drug overdose. This disease wants to kill us! Good job staying sober. I'm sure that's what your friend would want.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm sure that your friend would be glad to know that you were sober.

So glad you made the sober choice. Geez this thing is so enormously illogical isn't it? If you're friend died by a bullet, you wouldn't shoot yourself to reminisce and feel the same pain.

I'm sorry for your loss. Mourning him with real and true emotions (not covered or conjured by alcohol) is the right and honourable thing.

Thank you for sharing this struggle. Bright blessings friend.
