My story in image and sound
a friend brought me some pics,
of a time not too long ago,
I took them and thought about the past,
of people and things lost in 2013,
freedom, job, house, woman, money, car
took my phone and told my story,
in image and sound,
"dirty reg semi charmed alcoholic" on youtube,
Loudoun Co. wants me to show to others,
so I may help those behind me

Hey Dunnd40,

WOW. I was nervous at first to go looking for it, as I am that fool that will go to youtube for one thing and find myself five hours later watching grandmas whose teeth fall out without even knowing how I wound up there
But I did. Powerful, honest, amazing - and very well done. Eye opening. Great job, and good for you getting your life back. That is a video that will surely help others. Sending best wishes your way.

Loudoun
Loudoun is the county Ashburn is in. They put me away, then sent me to their treatment facility. They have good people working there. I was able to get even more out of attending AA. There are so many people with good intentions trying to get sober in AA who are hesitant to go all in. I was at first. I did build up some armor against drinking by attending a lot of meetings but resisted jumping all in for months. I go to a pretty hardcore group that was tolerant but not shy about pointing out my need for more work. I resisted the "God thing" as well. Entering Step 7, I had a list of character defects longer than I would have previously thought. I knew I had some work to do. I found a reason to pray. I stopped resisting and just started to do what I was told. It is my hope that others do this as early as possible.
Read, pray and meditate in the morning. Don't ask why, don't think too much about it. Just do it. I promise no calamities will occur as a result of this activity. I hope it will start off your day in a very positive way. Get to know the literature. Work the Steps with a sponsor and research the Step you're on through the Big Book and 12 & 12. Make an honest effort each day to try your best. See if this doesn't start making you feel better.
Best of luck to you recovering alcoholics.
