This could inspire someone??!

Well today is day 29 for me and despite a fairly traumatic event I did not drink (but really wanted to and felt I deserved it)! I came home from visiting the local art museum with my 70 year old parents and my two children to find my house ransacked!! My dog was locked in ine of the bedrooms, cat was missing and the house was a wreck. Cops came, they had to do fingerprinting but found that the robber had gloves on so likely nothing will be done. My jewelry given to me by my aunt, a necklace my husband bought after finding out we were having a boy, two labtops, two Nikon cameras, my iPad, ect ect were stolen. I wanted to numb out and feel better for just a few minutes but knew it wouldn't help anything so chose to deal with the ****** feelings and now I feel proud! Wanted to share.

It's happened to me too. Horrible, awful feeling. Look after yourself, it really is quite traumatic.

Aww man. So sorry to read about that this happened to you. Hugs to you. What a difficult place to find yourself at this time. Sounds like you are doing a great job of staying strong through this. Keep taking it one moment at a time.

Sorry to hear that happened, that's rough. Great job on not drinking, that's a tough thing to deal with. But what a great feeling to resist drinking isn't it, if you can get thru this sober you sure can handle the other **** life might throw at you.

Oh my...... Did you find your cat? I've been robbed before too, it's such a violation and a very traumatic event. Good for you for dealing with it without drinking. Just imagine if you did. There's always the morning after, and you'd add another crappy feeling to what you already are dealing with.

They can take your things but they can't take away your sobriety.

Your response to the whole event is certainly inspiring Hereandnow. Wow - what a dreadful experience! All the best with your clean up and I hope you were insured.

I'm so sorry, Hereandnow. My house was burgled many years ago, but nothing as traumatic as that So, so brilliant that you didn't drink. You're amazing!
