I have no idea how I am going to be able to do this

I am 25 year old young professional and alcohol totally controls my life. I come from a long line of alcoholics and the drinking is getting so out of control. I have recently realized if I don't stop drinking I will ruin my entire life. I have about $10,000 in debt and need to fix my life.

Welcome aboard! You're doing the right thing trying to get this under control now at 25. I didn't and lost two great white collar jobs because of my drinking. I also racked up some serious debt from drinking and drugs so I can relate. You can quit this, your life doesn't have to be that way.

Haven't been able to get off the couch today. Feeling very lost and sad I let my life get this way. I am discouraged by how hard this is truly going to be

Don't lose heart. You are ABSOLUTELY doing the right thing by addressing the issue NOW. You will save yourself years of frustration and heartache by tackling the issue head on.
SR is a terrific resource to help you and a real community! There are many individuals on this board who have been right where you are and understand exactly what you are going through.

Do you have a plan? Do you have a source of peer support? It is very hard to do this on your own. Congratulations for recognizing the problem.

Welcome to the family ZOO.

The good news is - you're acknowledging this now and stepping up to make a change in your life. I let alcohol control me long after my 20's - and my life became chaos. This won't happen to you. We're with you as you make this big change - you can do it.

Welcome to SR!

What's preventing you from living a sober life?

Hey Zoo, welcome to SR. We do it one day at a time, one post at a time, one prayer at a time, one surrender at a time.

Notice the time thing, it takes time but it is worth it. One foot in front of the other! First step is to stop drinking.

I am glad you are hear.

I am the only thing preventing me from having a sober life. Nothing's making me drink but me and I don't want to live this way anymore.

When I was young and I couldn't get started on something and complained about it My mom always said, " Just Start." I use that a lot.
