new poster from Georgia

HI,

I'm hoping that my joining is allowed.
A bit about myself, I've been an RN since 1991. A few months ago I changed jobs and started working at a psychiatric hospital. Our patients are all indigent and are a mix of addicts and people with psychiatric issues and/or a combination of both.

I'm hoping I can find some useful information here to help me in working with this population. All my previous experience has been in critical care dealing primarily with healing the body.

If a moderator can chime in to let me know if it's appropriate for me to be here as I'm not in recovery but just trying to learn to better care for people who're trying to make the transition from addiction to recovery/sobriety.
Thanks!
Chris
