Panic attack-help

I'm currently having a panic attack. All that's going through my mind is that I'm going to have a heart attack and I can't seem to shake those thoughts. Occasionally my left arm hurts but I just finished some press ups so I think that's it.

I mean, I would know for sure if I was having a heart attack, right? My chest does not hurt.

Are you withdrawing from alcohol? We can't give medical advice; you need to see a doctor.

Panic attacks really, really suck. I sincerely wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.

Ben, I used to have severe panic attacks and the only way I could get them to stop was to get up and go for a walk. Next time it happens just try walking and see if it helps. I found that sitting still made it worse....

I would walk around the house or back and forth in my driveway (it was about 200 ft long) or grab a bottle of water and walk around the neighborhood.

I'm glad you are feeling better now.

Funny, walking makes them worse for me. I usually go on the computer and look up videogames and stuff because it keeps my head distracted enough to let them pass.

I love walking though. I write short stories for fun and I pretty much write them in my head on my walks then just type them up when I get home.

Yeah panic attacks suck. Def are the worst thing I've ever experienced.... When I get one I try two things.

1. Distraction. Adult Videos are the most distracting for me lol
2. Acceptance. Repeating to myself that "this will go away it always does" and imagining the time that it's gone and how good that will feel and feeling how bad I feel now and how I feel like my heart is going to stop and really feeling it and imagining that it goes away.

I suffer from anxiety and now im 14 days sober and two days smoke free im having them really bad atm

Good for you for walking and writing
I hope doing kettlebells will help tomorrow im going for a bath
Anxiety is awful sometimes you think your going to pass out i find yoga or pilates for the deep breathing can help....
Are you taking any anti anxiety medication at all ?

My panic attacks have disappeared over time sober and after getting off weed. I'm sure after you have some more sober time that they will get less frequent.

Another good technique is to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. This helps get more oxygen to your brain and has a calming effect.
