New and nervous

It's day2 for me and the weekend. I'm volunteering at a local open gardens today and sewing all day tomorrow. I'm aware that I need to keep busy and positive but I've done this so many times before. I've never reached out to strangers before though.
I've read through many threads on this site. You are all so supportive. I hope this is a new start for me.

Welcome IknowIwill to SR! I am brand new here myself and am learning the ropes. Congrats to you for your desire to to become sober. You have taken the first step to a better life. I myself have been clean now for about a week and a half. While I must admit that this is about the hardest thing I have done in my life, I am also looking forward to the results! As they say, the harder you work at it, the more you cherish it. Hope you keep in touch with us and if I can be of any help to you whatsoever, please don't hesitate to reach out anytime!

Welcome to the family. No one gets left behind on SR.

Volunteer work is a great way to get out of your head and stay sober.

If you start to feel better physically, that's when you will be vulnerable in early recovery. 2 conversations will start in your head. The AV, that's everything relating to the rationalization
Of justifying a drink. The other voice will be you. The part that knows one drink will lead to a barrel of wine.

Make sure to recognize the 2 distinct voices.

All the best

Hi IKnowIWill :) I'm on Day 5 and have been in that situation limbo before too, but I'm not making it up when I say that it really does help to be able to post here and read other people's experiences and interact when things get tough.

I don't know if you've investigated AA but I had my first meeting last week, I was a bit skeptical- but I can't believe how it's changed my perspective from all the other times I've tried to quit. The feeling that, cheesy as it is, "you're not alone" is very powerful.

You'll be great :)
