First post....ugh

So, I knew things were getting bad. Yeah, like the entire year. I went sober for a week. Never felt better, slept good, had dinner with a nice girl. Then I just caved in the middle of the day, and that was monday. I have tried to tell family and friends, but can't do it.

It is so hard to have a normal life without drinking, and I only have myself to blame.

Sorry to rant here, I know we all have problems.

Welcome to the Forum!!

The thing I realised when I quit drinking is that there are soo many people that don't drink, also those that do, many can have a pint or glass of wine and that's it for the day, that is what seems to be "normal", normal life doesn't seem to include binge drinking, not remembering what happened the night before and waking up with a hangover that wrecks the whole of the next day.

Unfortunately when I realised I couldn't do the "normal" life thing, I needed to find an alternative, binge drinking or Sobriety were my options, Sobriety was tougher but more beneficial!!

You'll find loads of support here on SR, great to have you onboard!!

Welcome to the family. It was very hard for me to stay sober. I tried many times but never gave up and finally I 'got it'. Now my life is better than ever.

Well you can if you wish to. It is anonymous here after all and it is unlikely that you have done anything that a good few others here have not over the years!

Sobering up at the moment. I have had to lie like three times today to get out of social meetings. This is the worst feeling. I have done it many times. So tired of it.

Dear cougfan. You seem young. I'm 56. I beg you. Please fix this now. You deserve a clear headed life. I had my first old Milwaukee when I was 18. Was not a good girl in my twenties all due to drinking because I was a stupid back woods country girl. Drinking made me feel pretty and different. All it did was make me a redneck drunk. Again..fix this now.
