One week in on a business trip overseas

I do not know whether it's the new medication I am taking (Campral), or just me, but I managed to avoid temptation on my flight, which is something quite hard to do for anyone trying stop drinking. However, one thing I did on the plane which I haven't done for some 20 or so years, due to my stupid flipperty-gibbet brain, was to read a book! This is a major achievement for me as my adult ADHD and, perhaps more importantly, alcohol, have always got in the way of my indulging in this simple pleasure. Am now planning to do more reading. I am also lucky that my conference colleagues are not big/none drinkers and no one has challenged my ordering diet coke.

Just thought I would share some positive experiences with folks on here xx

YEY!!!! Well done... That is one position where I would struggle due to a fear of flying!! But thankfully I avoid that as much as possible.. Funny that though, every time I have stopped which is far too many I have found myself picking up a book.. I've missed that.. Again, congrats on the flight & the diet coke :-)

Nicely done!

Maybe do some activities when you have spare time and have a plan for the conference if drinking is involved.

Enjoy you conference and we'll done for your sobriety

Great job. Working overseas can always present interesting challenges. Many of the countries I have worked in took great pleasure in getting the foreigner drunk...repeatedly. I had to learn that sometimes my "culture" is more important than theirs.
