Another newbie
Hello
Firstly I fear I may not say anything new and unique here-so feel free to stop reading!
As it's past midnight I have now been sober 7 days. It's the longest I have managed since I was 15. All I think about is not being sober so I have come here as I hope to take my mind off of that by speaking to people who may understand it.
For a long time it has felt like my only 'thing' so my tactic at the moment is to try not to dell but rather be stoic and philosophical and remove myself from my situation as it were.
So I hope I do well and I hope I take part here.

Welcome to SR and congratulations on 7 days!!
When I first got here, I read a lot of other posts and found "my story" was very similar to that of others. For me, it was a relief to know I wasn't alone.
You are not alone and will find a lot of support here.

Welcome!! Big congrats on getting through your first week, that's a huge accomplishment! I have found so much support and encouragement here and believe you will as well, this place is a great way to occupy yourself and keep your mind busy and distracted. Glad to have you here!

Hi, and welcome. I too came here a week sober, after many years of being drunk. It has been such a safe haven, and the people here are so supportive. You are in a safe place, and you are not alone. We are all on the journey with you. It is good to meet you. Hang with us, it is a great place to hang out.

For me there were times I couldn't go 7 minutes without being high or drunk so 7 days is remarkable, especially being that you said its the longest stretch of sobriety you've ever had! Every day that you get through without a drink deserves a big congrats
