Well, I had two days

Thought I was on my way, but a stressful day today had me grabbing a beer....then four. 😞

Hard when it's in the house and hubby drinks too.

I have to make my own choices though....I take full responsibility for that.

Tomorrow is another new start

Welcome Boxerlover. Glad you found us.

Sometimes it takes us a few tries to get started. The old habits are so easy to fall back on. As you said, tomorrow is a new start. I hope you'll post again to say how it's going.

First time I really want to kick it. I used to think I'd have a couple to unwind, but then I started to realize I'd daydream about having a drink at the end of the day and realized I have a problem. It's funny how you hide it from yourself.

Welcome! Denial is a big part of early recovery, and if you stick around you'll hear your story being told by others, which helps me to see the extent of my problem. Tomorrow's a new day, good luck!

Trying to quit smoking at the same time. Fear I'm taking on too much at once, but want to stop both. Have started walking a lot every day after work. Trying to replace the bad with good

Just about finished Allen Car's easy way to quit smoking. Know a lot of people who went cold turkey easily after that then going to read his book on quitting drinking. Figure all the info I can get will only help

welcome boxerlover!!!!
Denial was my best friend (or worst friend I now realize) for years! I'm now trying to form a good relationship with this thing called Acceptance! It's a slow courting, but the benefits are already there (day 31!)
I like walking too, I walk to and from work (weather permitting) and gives me a chance to clear my head first thing and then after a busy day. I need to quit smoking as well but I'll deal with that down the road...LOL...seems I gotta pick this Alan Carr book up as I keep hearing about it!

Hang in sister! it gets better and better. Keep posting.

I've been told not to try to quit smoking but to focus on sobriety first, there are good arguments either way. I had my last cigarette two years ago this week, never thought I could do it at the time. Wish I could have the same result with vodka, but I'm trying hard to quit for good.

Future stress-filled days are virtually guaranteed. Having an advanced plan for handling them can be very useful.

Best of Luck!
