Not easy

Hi. Haven't posted for a while. But Im still here reading other people posts.
Im sad, a bit depressed today, nothing makes me smile. Cant drink or smoke. And there is nothing to cheer me up.
I cant believe after all this time I still get these urges. And when they come, I feel awful.

Not much advice, just want to say you're not alone. I have many days where I feel sad, depressed, or angry (or all of the above) and I'm so tempted to grab that quick fix.

Hang in there, it will pass, just give it time. How long have you been sober?

Good that you can post your feelings. There are going to be down days; everyone goes through them, and you can too.

You feel awful for having the urges, but not as awful as you'd feel giving in to the urge, which I did. That's truly awful.

Hope you feel better soon.

Healthyfood, Wow! 863 days is incredible! You should be really proud of yourself, that is huge!

I've only been sober 2 weeks, but really want it to stick this time. I've had a couple months here & there and always went back. It does feel different this time around, been trying to take better care of myself and keeping busy, spending more time here too, and it's all helping.
What helped you in the beginning?

Other times I tried to get sober, thinking back now I think I was just 'not drinking', I didn't make much effort to improve myself or my life.

I hope you feel better soon.

yup.
I managed to make it to 1.5yrs but I hadn't done any real work on myself or the cloud of denial I was living in. Not this time.

The only thing that helped me was the decision I made 863 days ago, that I would never pick a drink ever again. I tried to moderate before, never worked, 6 days and back to booze. So now I know I cant drink forever. Maybe when Im 85.

I'm sorry you're down today HF. I hope tomorrow will be better.
What I know for sure is a drink won't help
