Being Sober

I have seen profound changes in myself over the course of the journey to living as a sober woman. Finally, I am beginning to feel honestly and truly good enough. It has taken a lot of work to get here and I continue to invest in a sober life each day.

I am both blessed and cursed to be a high bottom drunk. My drinking career has been brief compared to many, but my motivation is strong. I grew up with an alcoholic mother and I know what the consequences to my continued reckless behaviour will be. I have a beautiful life ahead of me if I stay sober moment by moment. I can and will learn from the mistakes of others who have gone before me. Life is precious and I am learning little by little that I deserve the support and love of a sober community.

Thank you for being here. Keep coming back! You can change your life and achieve your goals, one day at a time.

Love,
Flying

Great post, Flying4Life. Congratulations on your 9+ months of sobriety. Your achievement, and the happiness that you have found since becoming sober, provides inspiration and motivation to the rest of us.

Well done.

Good for you! I'd never heard the term "high bottom drunk" before, but I looked it up. It makes me happy that there's actually a term for those who sober up before they've lost too much. You inspire me.
