The weekend is coming *shudder*
Starting day 5 and feeling good. The last 4 days have been relatively drama free. Spoke with an addiction specialist yesterday and am feeling positive and starting to feel better over all.
I've relapsed a ton already in the last 5 months of trying to quit. I decided to think back about my relapses and realized just about every single one of my relapses was on a weekend. Typically, late Saturday or early Sunday when I couldn't stand the free time anymore.
MY AV is already calling I hear him now " its been a long week you've done well, 1 beer or shot isn't going to kill you", " just one". This really, I mean really scares me. I am going to work on silencing this voice throughout the day because I know its only going to get louder. Its almost like I am me, and he is the alcoholic in my brain.
So hope everyone is doing well. What are your plans for the weekend maybe I can get some ideas.

How about making a plan for the entire weekend so you don't have idle time? I mean literally - print out a calendar and fill in each hour with what you plan on doing. It can be simple as things like cleaning the basement, mowing the lawn, reading a book, posting on SR, etc. Add in a couple things you haven't done in a long time - maybe visiting a store you haven't been to, or go someplace you've never gone before. Maybe even an AA/NA meeting?
Having a support system of buddies who
are also in recovery where you all are
helping each other, supporting each other
thru out the day so relapsing or slipping
doesn't have to happen.
That's what the fellowship in recovery
is all about.

How many times has ONE DRINK ever really been ONE DRINK? I used to tell myself that too, and always ended up drunk. It's not true and your AV is a liar.
the weekends are hard, but you can get through it. Stay on here as much as you can this weeked, or get out and enjoy the beautiful weather! Go for a bike ride, or a walk, see a movie. Do anything you can to keep you from having idle time. Think about how good you'll feel when Monday rolls around, and you are still sober!
