you are my new facebook/twitter

I haven't even checked my social media accounts in the last 2 days since I joined SR. So, so happy (and relieved!) to have found such a great group of people who finally understand.

:ring

I don't ever want to go back!

Glad you are enjoying the experience!

Such great folks here, I really like it also. I joined in 2012 and am addicted to the fellowship of SR.

Ya know I never thought of SR as social media..
Hmmmm...."Soberbook" without all the BS.

So glad you feel homey already.

It is a little addictive. I love it when I'm bored. It keeps the importance of sobriety in the forefront of my mind and it keeps me occupied. It's great.

I feel the same way! SR is awesome! I haven't been on Facebook since Saturday and I don't miss it at all. I'm on day 5 today and you guys have made that possible. I was asked to go to happy hour with coworkers after work and I thought about it. But instead I came here and read the posts from you amazing people and it gave me the motivation and support I needed to say no. I went to workout instead. I feel great! Without SR I probably would have gone to happy hour. I feel fantastic tonight. Thanks everyone!! Xo

I'm on here a lot but consider the time well spent. :)

I have never used Facebook - just not my thing at all. But I have a long history of meeting people online on various subject-focused websites and forums and I'm also in love with our SoberBook now. I think the theme-specific websites work for me because I usually also socialize, establish relationships, etc driven by my personal interests (shared with a group or another individual).

SR is definitely special... in my case I tend to think because 1. the utility factor (it's highly beneficial, not only just fun), and 2. the general culture and morals here.
I don't consider it as an addiction, though. It does not interfere with other areas of my life negatively, it's the opposite. But it's definitely a habit now. I am confident that if in the future I will want to shift my focus to other areas, I'll be able to hang out less on SR easily. But so far it's been adding only good things to my days and my recovery, so I stick with it.
