Still here and doing OK! And an apology..
I owe a bit of an apology to the forum. After a messy period of off and on drinking I stopped posting here as it wasn't really helping me. It is a great forum and I would not for a moment criticize it for any other reason than I felt there was almost too much going on here and I needed to focus on my AA program in a more concentrated way.
I have been doing that and also attending five meetings a week, reading the literature, meeting AA 'mates' socially now and again and I do feel much more focused as a result. Most importantly I am not drinking!
I shall hang aroung here - you can't get rid of me that easily!..But to learn rather more than to write. I'm not sure I have anything to teach people given my history.
A big thank you to everyone who makes this place a great resource. I shall pop in regularly and read even more so!

So glad you are back with us.
Anytime we share what is going on with
us before, during and after our drinking
or using careers or in other words, your
ESH - Experiences, Strengths, Hopes,
with anyone struggling with addiction
is a teaching or learning lesson.
With your Willingness to come back here
or to the rooms of recovery out there, you
are definitely helping more people than you
know.
I believe everyone can learn from each
other by listening or keeping an openmind
as members share their ESH all thru out
their recovery journey.
You have taught me that addiction is alive
and well and can strike anyone at anytime.
I can teach you about hope that if I can
live a recovery life for as long as I have,
a day at a time, incorporating many important
tools and knowledge of a recovery program
taught to me yrs. ago into my everyday life,
that the promises stated to us can and will
come true depending on how much stock
I put in my own recovery.
As long as I am reminded that alcohol is cunning,
baffling and powerful then I plan on staying
close to my recovery program passing on my
own ESH with newcomers to remain happy,
healthy and honest for yrs to come.
Continue to share with us how you are
staying sober to give those just coming
into recovery hope that if you can do it,
so can they. I need you and im pretty
sure they do too.

Glad you are going to still stick around and that you are back. There are no wasted posts in this forum no matter where the poster is in recovery. Each post whether good or bad will help someone. Your history is unique to you and someone will relate to it and it will help them. So yes, you do have something to teach to others.
If you need to go in and out...well, this is OK As long as you are doing what you need to be doing and going where you need to be going.
No need to be so hard on yourself. Take a hug
or two.
**BTW...I hung out in the Chat for 2 hours tonight because IT was a ridiculously, unexpected hard night. I watched the Stanley cup on my TV and talked about 'noodling' on the James River (voted #1 river in the U.S.) in Virginia, nail polish practices of an OR nurse, potted plants and hardiness, cats who like to watch sports...and I did not take a drink. Now I am finally going to bed as the birds sing. Tomorrow is a new day.
Welcome back Mentium. So many repeated attempts to give up is a familiar pattern to many of us.
If you drink only when you are alone it might mean that you are allowing other people to be "The alcohol police". The voice shouting loudest for our sobriety needs to be our own.
