Please rest

I am feeling much better today.

Yesterday I had a bit of a meltdown, lots of anger and resentment, lots of tears. Awful day.

I went to bed at 8:30pm. I stayed in bed until 7am this morning. I didn't sleep the whole time, but I did breathing exercises, affirmations, meditated, cuddled with my cat (they say the purring of cats is a natural healing mechanism).

Well I woke up this morning feeling much better. Very relaxed. All my body aches are almost gone.

I can't stress it enough, get proper rest. If you are in the early recovery like me, please rest as much as you can! Sometimes we forget that our brain is still healing! Avoid getting the yucky emotional meltdown that I had...go to bed early! You'll feel so much better!

Have a great evening everybody!

You are so right. What's really wonderful is that it's SOBER rest.
In bed right now with my trusty tablet being the only light in a dark room as I type this.
Very relaxing. Two weeks tomorrow. Hangover free mornings.
I look forward to these quiet times, followed by a genuine sleep.

I love hangover free days, want a lifetime of those now. Thanks for making me feel better about going to bed so early these days. I do feel I need it!

Patricia, you're right that rest and sleep are very important in healing.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

So right! I slept a lot in early recovery, and it was so refreshing after years of insomnia as a result of my drinking.

Keep resting up...does a mind and body good:-)

Glad you're feeling better! Rest....knowing what our bodies need is so important. Last night I came home tired from work...real tired to find company in the house. I made some brief and polite chit chat and then excused myself to a hot bath and retired to my room with a snack and my laptop. Once I had done that...I realized that only last week..I would have joined in and had some drinks...rather than a hot bath and bed.
How many times have I drank rather than responded to what my body needs? Spins my head...only days into sobriety again.
