Outpatient treatment on the horizon--tips?
I finally asked for help--20 years and a lot of beers, I went to my Dr. and he is sending me to "intensive" outpatient therapy plus a shrink. Next week I commence, so I feel like every day is one last day to enjoy the heck out of getting drunk. I am scared ********. I have to shake this alcohol loving monkey off of my back but he holds tight and I don't mind his company. As I head in to recovery, any tips? How can I get a strong start in recovery and avoid relapse? I can't imagine never sitting in a pub on a sunny day and having a pint again. It's gonna be so hard. Thanks.
Hi Liverbug
I've never been to IOP but I'm sure you'll hear from those who have.
Never drinking again is a m,onumental thing for guys like you and me.
Woulds it be easier just to focus on one day at a time for now?
I found 24 hours a lot more manageable than forever
