New to Online Recovery Forum

This is the first time that I have spoken about my alcoholism in an online format. Last night I again drank alone and feel just shameful and awful. I guess I thought I had this beat when I went a whole two weeks without drinking; the whole time, I kept having cravings that would get stronger with each passing day. The reality is that I am what some would call "a binge drinker" anyway so I was never really sober just abstaining from drinking until last night.

My hope for joining is to feel connected to addicts like me so I can talk about my alcoholism instead of hiding it from the world.

Welcome to the Forum!!

For me abstaining from alcohol, doesn't really cure or fix me, if I started drinking again I would go back to my old ways of binge drinking, so for me it has to be a long term solution to the problem.

You'll find loads of support here, great to have you onboard!!

Welcome goody - it's great to have you with us.

I think being here will really help you. I had no one to talk to about my drinking either. Everyone was a social drinker & didn't understand why I couldn't control myself. Here, we all understand and support each other. You'll definitely feel connected - and it will be a relief for you. Glad you are here.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the kind words. You are so right--every time I drink I am back to the same level, often way past the amount I drank the last time.

Absolutely! I could never understand how social drinkers could stop at one or two. As I have gotten older, the divide between me and the social drinkers in my life has become too wide of a gap for me to ignore.

Thanks for the kind welcome and words!

Welcome Goody.

Together we all can do this.
