Sleeping drunks

I don't know how I feel about this, I feel so bad for the humiliation of the Friday night drinkers.

I have to agree, it's humiliating to them and fail to see how it will help the issue in that country.

Maybe there's a cultural difference, but shame only made me drink harder.

I think a bar group sponsoring this is, at best, disingenuous.

not a fan.

Honor is paramount to their culture so it's decided that "shaming them"
is good. Yeah that makes sense.

I hate messages like this....as it attempts so show a solidarity to help -sickening.

I feel the same when a partner/spouse videos their drunk mate. Shows more
about them than the one they video.

I didn't watch the video. I agree, though. I'd wash down my morning shame--most of mine was just speaking too much and too freely--with more alcohol to take away the sting.

Not a fan either. Someone could be choking on their own vomit or suffering from alcohol poisoning and rather than help them get to a safe place or at least move them in a safe position they shame them publicly.

I hate the video. That's awful. By the time they realize there is something seriously wrong, the person would be dead. It's very sad indeed.

I don't condone this type of exploitation by a bar/restaurant. However, cameras and video recorders are on just about every cell phone these days, so anyone who passes out drunk in the street is leaving themselves open to being recorded. And in the US the 2nd Amendment makes it perfectly legal to take a picture of anyone in a public place and publish that picture.

I believe you mean the First Amendment -- which includes freedom of speech, freedom of press.

As my Grandma always reminded us-"But for the grace of God, there go I".

To me, this is filming sufferers of disease and shaming them. Some have no mercy whatsoever.

I realize there is a big cultural divide with this video. Maybe shame works in Japan, but I have to think there is a better way to help people with drinking problems.

I don't like it. It serves no purpose other than to humiliate the drunks.

If the bars wanted to do the right thing, they shouldn't humiliate the same people they served all night. instead they should cut them off when they had enough.
If this were in the US, a major class action law suit against the establishment promoting this degrading and humiliating activity.
