upset

So I went to work n just over n hour into my shift my back went into really bad spasms n pain.
One of my colleagues made me go home as the pain was so much.
I've had to come home n have some of my prescribed pain killers to stop the pain n relieve the spasms.
Feel terrible as I hate letting my colleagues down and I really wanted to prove to myself I could do that shift n go home without a drink when I finish at silly o'clock.
:-(
Even though I'm sober I still feel I cheated by not finishing the shift

Hang in there, ZG! You can't fix everything all at once.

I have back spasms too ZG - they are literally crippling.
I don't think you should think badly of yourself - you're not in a fit state for work.

Rest up and hopefully the spasms will get better

There'll be plenty of other Fridays to try that out zombiegirl. It would be a pretty mean person who didn't understand a few tears over severe pain so just rest up and do what's best for your back. Eat well over the weekend, get plenty of sleep and you'll be a new woman on Monday.

Zombiegirl, I hope your back feels better soon. I'm glad you're sober - I know you were looking forward to hitting a week. You didn't cheat by not finishing the shift. Things happen the way they're supposed too. You'll have many more chances to prove to yourself you can get through the shift. You needed to take care of yourself, you proved you can do that without drinking. Well done!

Ah, Zombiegirl, you stayed strong and didn't let the pain or disappointment drive you to drink. I think that counts as a test passed! You go, girl
