Any tips? Needed fast

Day 6 and I am struggling big time with sleep, anyone have any advice on how to deal with insomnia? My eyes are aching so bad!

This app https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slee...410351918?mt=8 - white noise for the iPhone is truly the bomb.

Confuseddotcom suggested this and I need to give him kudos. The 'rain on the tent' has been TKO the last 2 nights.

Sweet dreams!

I find having a podcast on or talk radio in the background at a low level helps me take my mind off actually falling asleep and allows me to nod off.

Camomile tea as well.

Melatonin worked great for me. You can get it at any drugstore. White noise (as above) also great.

I like sleepy time tea. It relaxes and hydrates too. You are doing great. Hang in there, it does get better.

I am on Day 7 and I find myself having a hard time falling asleep even though I am tired. I find the Sleepytime tea helps me relax a bit before bed. I also try to spend 10 minutes meditating before bed to clear my head. It helps and I know this in only temporary while my body adjusts to these big but wonderful changes.

There are also white noise apps for Android phones as well, FYI.

I personally take melatonin a half hour before bed and it helps me. In no way shape or form am I giving medical advice--just sharing my experience. Had to put the disclaimer in cuz I was warned by a moderator that I was breaking rule # 10 for doing so in response to another sufferer in another post. Otherwise, do some research elsewhere cuz all yer gonna hear here is "see a dr." or "call AA". Other than that I know from previous detox experience that this will pass--for some sooner than later.

One thing I have done since sober, I never go to bed until I absolutely cannot keep my eyes open.

i agree with raider. try to resist naps. eventually your body will call it quits. for me, once i started sleeping again, it became "normal" pretty fast.-a matter of days.

Exercise.

If you where yourself out physically, sleep comes easier.

Exercise, reading, drawing, etc. Watching TV or movies doesn't/didn't do it for me. Then again, running usually doesn't help either... Usually fuels the fire.

Hi. I don't know if it applies or not but the effects of drinking coffee last a lot longer than most of us suspect.

BE WELL

Here's what I do:

-Limit my coffee to one cup a day
-No caffeinated drinks
-No TV or computer or phone 2 hours before bedtime
-Go to bed at the same time every night
-Keep the bedroom room dark (I put a sock over the alarm clock lol)
-Lavender oil helps you to relax
-Also herbal tea (chamomile, sleepy time, etc)
-A nice long bath is the BEST sleeping aid

Hope it helps!

Sorry to be a bit blunt, but personal gratification works wonders for me. Plus what others said of course. Sorry to say.

Sleepytime is excellent. Now, Sleepytime Extra is tha bomb. It has valarian root in it and i've found that it makes me pleasantly sleepy. I take melatonin and valarian root extract in the form of a pill if i don't drink my tea. Be warned though, cats react to valarian the same way they react to catnip. I actually have a cat that managed to unscrew the top off my bottle of valarian! I was there so i stopped her from destroying my pills.

I drink sleepytime tea and exercise. Melatonin can cause depressive symptoms in my experience so be careful with that!
