Run Sober

Good Morning to everyone. Just finished a seven and half mile run this morning on my FIRST week(as of today)of no drinking! WOW! It's so nice to not fight the night of whiskey drinking on my runs. So much clarity and a beautiful morning. I made ONE week! I pray you all are doing well and pressing onward........J

Congrats on One Week! That's huge. The exercise is so good for us alcoholics, too. You're a Rock Star!

Good run and congrats on one week! Fellow runner here I think it's a lot easier to stay consistent on training without boozing in the picture, and running is definitely easier. Since I got sober last year in June I've been steadily working on physical fitness (running in warmer weather, weights in winter) and I'm a little amazed what one can accomplish without that anchoring albatross of alcohol.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Thank you! Much struggle but worth it. I feel I have come out of a dark pit that I've been in for the last four years and it's springtime. There's much work ahead with outpatient treatment coming but I want to work, I want to fight this out.

@ notmyrealname I can see that. The alcohol effects the running for sure but I still did half marathons in the goal times I set so see I would rationalize and justify. But towards the end here the addiction was starting to come and take over that area of my life as well. I can't wait to see how far I will go now. Nice to have fellow runners in recovery on here, thanks for your encouragement
