Knowing that whatever decisions I make today, and every day, were made sober. No mental asterisk wondering if I would have done something different had it not been for the alcohol last night.

Not having to plan everything around drinking i.e. driving, getting booze, hangovers etc

It amazes me sober just how pervasive my drinking was.

An old thread - but a terrific one. I had to re'up it.

I'm adding: everything. But for the sake of the premise of the thread, the fact that I can actually feel at times, physically, spiritually, however it arrives, the hope that life is going to get better.

Everything, even the sadness and pain, glisten with meaning when I'm sober.

Nothing like being able to look people in the eye.

Taking good care of my dogs and cats since I'm no longer too drunk or sick to care for them.

One good thing- waking up without the fear of "what did I do/say/text last night since I can't remember and my phone is buzzing with messages!"

One good thing about sobriety is that I have regained my self-respect.
