Today is the Day!!
Today is the Day!!
Wanted to let you know that today is officially "Day One" for me. I had planned to wait one week because of several things coming up this week that I thought would present too much temptation, and to start with a clean slate next Monday. Sitting here this morning, I decided I didn't want to wait, and that I'm sick of feeling sick. So, as of now, I'm officially in Recovery.
I've got an unopened, very nice bottle of cabernet in my kitchen. Fortunately, I've also got a new neighbor who moved in last Friday, so she will get a housewarming gift this evening.
Please wish me luck. Thanks in advance for your support.
God bless,
Joe

Brookie,
Glad to here you have decided to start day one. I am an alcoholic on day 4 and each day gets easier. My only word of advice is take it one hour at a time and get that booze out of the house as soon as possible.
My first day one started with Vodka in the house and I just was not strong enough. Started again the next day with an empty house. Also, post here as often as you need as you get through this first day. I posted every hour just to mark the passing of one hour closer to a clean day.
Know my thoughts and prayers will be with you,

A grand day for you my friend. One hour at a time, and first thing you know, it's under your belt.
Wish you luck?
Done!
Thanks everybody. Right now I have zero urge to drink, which is basically because of how much I drank yesterday. When I stopped for last week, my withdrawal symptoms were pretty mild, so knock on wood they will be again this time. The harder part will be the cravings, probably beginning tomorrow if history is any guide.

your attitude is great. put a ribbon around that bottle and hand it off to the neighbor with a huge smile on your face. isn't it funny how all of us ended up here somehow or another when we were ready? you have found a great grouup of people. surf around, enjoy the scenery. hope your day is great. one day at a time.
