No meetings right now dammit!

I've posted here that my father who is 88 and lives close by, is currently in hospital with a bleeding ulcer and it looks like a few other things too. Nothing life threatening by the looks but nasty none the less. He was due out today but they want him to stay in for a few more days for other tests. I don't want to be self centred - and his needs come first right now - but the hospital visiting times clash with my AA meetings. Made one on Monday by arriving at half time, but the rest of the week they are too far to make it.

AA is my lifeline right now..well AA and here to be fair - and though I'm not a program type AA member the fellowship is wonderful and a great reminder of what life can be life sober.

I'm venting here really - there's no solution other than to hope (for his sake too of course!) that he is discharged soon. In the mean time I feel a tad white knuckley.

I know that feeling. Try online. I know there are online meetings. Some run about every hour. I know it isn't quite the same as going to a meeting but it might be a good stop gap. Just google online meetings. I'm glad your dad is doing better.

Speak to the ward and explain that you need to visit him outside those times. Hospitals will usually be reasonably flexible. X

Thanks Gwen - didn't think of that! And if that doesn't work I'll try online Tom!

Will be thinking of you and your father, Mentium.

Don't forget to lean on us.

got any phone numbers of people in AA?

Mentium 05-21-2014 09:48 AM

Yes I do Tomsteve - and use them. Also my best AA mates (a sort of informal sponsor) is online quite a lot and we chat.

The good news is I have just been told he is being discharged tomorrow afternoon. So problem solved!
