Learning what brings you joy in sobriety

I'm home alone today. I've done some exercise. No money at all today - so plan to stay home and cook. So that thought started in my head - 'well you could have a few drinks and the kids wouldn't know when they get home from school'. Instead I've put on some music (I rarely do that) and it feels good and relaxing.

The thing is I wouldn't be on Day 15 sober tomorrow if I drink - I'd be back at Day 1 and even if the kids and my husband didn't know I would and it makes me feel so depressed.

So music and cooking it is!

Sweet victory over your AV. Music does it for me too. Congrats on 15 days sober!

Music is powerful. I think people underestimate what music can do for us. In this day and age with Pandora and iTunes Radio, it's possible to stream any genre any time.

It's nice when it hits you that it's not about whether anyone finds out anymore. It's about you. It's about a better you and a better life.

Congrats on 2 weeks sober, that's great! I have always enjoyed music but since being sober I have fallen in love with it even more. It's a great outlet and distraction for me when cravings hit

At 15 days I was one unhappy camper and if anyone would have suggested things that I enjoyed I would have had some very choice words for them.

Each day got a little bit better and slowly but surely I started coming back to life. It does not happen fast but it does happen.

You will start to enjoy life again and realize that alcohol took away so much of who you are and the things that bring joy

Music and cooking is fantastic.

I was so surprised when the simple things in life began to be enjoyable.
