Fell off the wagon

I was doing alright for a while, but I started drinking again. I drank last night, then I had some of my fathers beers, and this morning they started giving me crap. I dunno what to do. My father asks me if I need to go to rehab. He says he knows when I drink but doesn't say anything, until now. Recently I was driving, they saw me, and I signaled the wrong way :frown: I wasn't drinking that day, it was an honest mistake I made when driving. Now they think I DUI all the time, which isn't true.

What should I do? I feel trapped. All I can say is I am sorry that I drink, but sometimes I cannot help it.

I think the ramifications of drinking are surfacing and I'm sorry for your situation.

I think you are lucky that your parents are concerned, it only means they care and love you. Only you can determine if you have a problem with Alcohol.

They will lecture to me all afternoon and then my father will go on and on for days on end.

Explain to them that is not helping and is exacerbating the problem?

What works best with family members is actions, sort things out, start living a Sober life and eventually you'll win them around, but they have to see something to believe in, that you are making real changes to your life!! :)

Hi Whopper :)

I think you need to look at this a different way.

The burning problem here is not your parents, it's your drinking.

When you work out what you're gonna do about that, there's a very good chance it will fix problems with your folks as well?

Oh, but you can help it - you just haven't yet. You don't have to drink. You can choose not to start drinking. What Dee said was right on. The problem is your drinking, not your parents. Get sober and those problems will likely resolve themselves. :)
