I. Can't. Even. (Vent)

Okay. So this place is probably going to become a huge outlet for me...because anonymity is awesome.

I love my job. I'm so freaking irritated today. Sometimes "how can I help you" really means "wtf do you want?" and I've really had to draw the line at using the phrase "well no ****" with many of the clients (because I just really don't feel like hearing the elaboration on the answer to a simple question - like "and what is your name" client says "it's -------- spelled ------" ........... "ya think!?? You've only been a client for a year, i can spell your effin name by now!")

Anyway. I love my job. Because like I said...I think we're all closet alcoholics here. I just hung up on someone..that's okay...we can always pretend we got disconnected (because she had a crap connection and I was going to go deaf from having hello and various questions screamed into my ear instead of getting answers to my questions...like "and what was he charged with...?" Simple question, right? Not to some of these clients...I DON'T NEED A LIFE STORY!!)

Long story short. I think...I can be as irritated as I want...as long as I don't rip the phone out of the wall and throw it. No one even blinked at me slamming the receiver down.

Today. I need today to be over.

yeah, I know what you mean, like having to listen to so many prompts and pushing numbers and hearing more prompts and pushing more numbers and finally getting through to someone, then they put you on hold- or you listen to some 33hitty hold music for ten minutes - and then they transfer you to someone else.
The best is, "We did not get your selection, please try again later." Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

Work, as well as life, has its ups and downs. We've got to learn to deal with them the best we can. I hope you find some peace of mind today.

Yes I know, dealing with people can
be very frustrating. They seem to
get more rude and demanding every
day. The fact is that most jobs require
us to interact with them. It can be trying.

Go do something that you enjoy doing,
tomorrow is another day

I am reminded..and wince to remember... my days in a legal aid office that specialized in dealing with the incarcerated. Good times. My drinking really hit its stumbling stride in those days.

I feel your pain.

There is always tomorrow. Yesterday was like that for me and I just wanted to run off to an island where there would be no one to bother me. Today is much better. I hope your day gets better in the very least. xoxoxox

That is exactly the reason why when I arrive home from work I go for a long walk in the fresh air with my ipod . . . I used to reach for a bottle, but I still need to de stress somehow!!

What drives me to the brink, are
these idiots that are yacking on
their cell phones while they are
attempting to drive a car.

I just had to throw that one
in there.

In your soberest voice, you could try:

"May I suggest..."Beam me up, Scotty!""

Sorry. I'm a sucker for a good laugh these days and will squeeze it from wherever I can. Enjoyed your post despite your awful day. I second the suggestion of breathing and counting in your head.

Fingers crossed for talking with just the most polite of customers.

How long have you been sober?

I would likely have to stifle "well, perhaps you will just die now and end the misery for all of us".

But I'm horrid.

Day3 is a challenge.

While you are breathing, keep in mind that "this too shall pass". Tomorrow is Day4.

Stay strong. Visit here often.

DO NOT test yourself with alcohol in your environment this evening or for a while. Join the weekenders club. Chat with those in the 'Chat room'. Squeeze every little bit of support you can from your friends here on SR.
