Sorry
Sorry
For not being around.
I'm currently on a binge, Trying to come off it. I have tried contacting my doctor several times about my referral to the local alcohol centre, I don't seem to be getting anywhere with that. I was referred in January, Still waiting. I'm not doing myself any favours, Not been to AA. Just feel worthless just now. Trying to self detox, Just think I've lost the plot.

I was feeling the same until last week when I somehow got the resolve to drag myself away from the booze. I went to an AA meeting that night which got me started. Plenty of those in Scotland. How about going tonight!?
Hey Kevin, I am not really AA but there is something about putting some walk into the talk and getting to a AA meeting to get the much needed support we can sometimes need to come of a binge, good luck Kevin, it is great that you are here and posting.
Welcome back Kevin!!
All starts with a Day 1, we've all been there, pour out all the alcohol in the house and start going to those meetings.
Did your doctor say you needed any medicaton for withdrawals?
Best just get stuck into Sobriety, you've nothing to loose and everything to gain!!

For me quitting couldn't be just a whim, or a wish. I had to turn it into a job. Alcohol was the biggest problem in my life, so I had to make recovery the biggest job in my life.
Have you looked into outpatient addictions therapy? It's often good to start with a doctors visit to have a physical, and get your levels checked. A doctor can also help you with referrals to outpatient or inpatient care.
Along with AA there are other programs. There is a slew of literature as well.
I drank for up to 10 hours each day, 7 days a week, and then the weeks turned into months, then years.
So, when I turned getting sober into my primary activity, I knew that the amount of time I spent on it wouldn't come close to the amount of time I'd spent drinking....keeping that in mind, it was truly time well spent.

Kevin,
I do not know how much you have drank
or for how long, but if you decide to
quit, you could experience some
rough withdraw symptoms. If you
do, get to a hospital or detox immediately.
As far as quitting, you CAN do it!
